As the first attempts at Internet Telephony leave much to be desired especially on long distances (echo, delay of voice) I decided to try the experiment, free downloading and installing Skype on your PC.
What I found was puzzling:
- The sound quality and speed of transmission of voice are at extremely high
- The costs are ridiculous. From "Skype to Skype call is free, and Skype to landlines or mobile phones around the globe, the costs are ridiculous, such as the € 1.7 cents per minute to call Australia.
Maybe it's the beginning of the end of exorbitant phone bills that we pay to various telecommunications operators every month, every time we make a call. It helps people forced to enormous distances to be able to "feel" closer. He says this with a phone bill of 500 € a month, because Switzerland and Italy are close, but the rates are salted.
